Scholarship Policies

  1. Scholarships may be renewable annually, up to a maximum of four years. Recipients must reapply each year and continue to meet the established scholarship criteria
  1. All awards are contingent upon the applicant being accepted by and remaining enrolled at the University or College of their choice on a full time, full year academic basis
  1. Only completed applications disclosing full details as requested will be considered
  1. This scholarship program is available to all Albertans pursuing post-secondary education
  1. Scholarship awards may be restricted from immediate families of financial donors

  1. Financial need
  1. Participation in volunteer or community activities
  1. Personal Statement

Application Process

  1. Candidates must complete the scholarship application form (Below)
    1. Candidates must submit proof of enrolment for the current school year, please submit with file name: LastName-ProofEnrolment
    1. Candidates must submit (or arrange to have submitted) two, third party letters of reference, please submit with file name: LastName-RefLetter
    1. Candidates must enclose a personal statement outlining how the game of golf has influenced their personal development, please submit with file name: LastNameStatement

      • Reference Letter Guidelines
        Information for the person from whom a reference letter has been requested

        This individual is an applicant for a scholarship being offered by the Alberta Golf Foundation. The Scholarship Committee would be grateful if you provided a frank statement regarding this applicant’s qualifications. The contents of your letter of reference will be held strictly confidential. Replies must be received by the AGF no later than July 15th to complete the student’s scholarship application.

        Proven academic qualities are required of applicants but they will also be required to show integrity of character, school, community involvement and solid citizenship.

        It is not expected that you will be able to speak from first-hand knowledge of the candidate’s qualifications. If you are primarily acquainted with the candidate through an academic relationship you are requested to concentrate particularly on intellectual quality and potential – although your assessment of the other qualities will be very welcome. If, on the other hand, you are better acquainted with the candidate through non-academic interests, you are requested to concentrate on assessment of character in the knowledge that the committee is looking for persons who are deserving individuals and who will be good representatives of the Alberta Golf Foundation.
