The next step in your golf journey is finding a place to play and practice! Golf Canada has created two easy-to-use pages that will help you find golf courses near you and can also help you find off course facilities, like simulators and driving ranges. Click on either of the buttons to get started.
After learning about the game, finding a course near you, your next step might be to get a lesson! If you click on the button called “PGA of Alberta”, you’ll be taken to the PGA’s website and can find golf professionals near you.
In addition, the Lifetime Development button will take you to our Lifetime Development Page which is complete with our Roadmap to help you visualize where you are where you can go if you keep at it!
Now that you’re ready for the course, let’s talk about keeping score! There’s no need to keep score when you first start, just enjoy your day out there! That being said, if you want to start keeping score and improving keeping score is the easiest way to do so.
If you press the Anatomy of A Scorecard, you’ll learn more about what all the numbers on scorecards mean so you can look like a total pro next time you tee off.

Now you’re on your way to mastering the game! After you’ve played a few times and are getting the hang of it, let’s help you to try and find an event to play in. UpSwing by Alberta Golf is our recreational platform that lists events from all over the province, so if you’re down in Medicine Hat, up in Grande Prairie, and everything in between there’s something for you and your comfort level.
UpSwing by Alberta Golf also offers six events throughout the summer that are entirely focused on just enjoying your day, so we recommend playing the events that have the purple UpSwing banner on them to start before moving into actual tournaments.
