2026 Alberta Golf Board of Directors Announced

The Annual General Meeting of the Voting Members of the Alberta Golf Association was held virtually on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. As part of business conducted during the meeting the following individuals were elected to the Board of Directors:

2026 ALBERTA GOLF BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Three Board Members had their terms come to an end at this year’s AGM: Mark Bamford, Ken Knowles and Lorraine Moster. The three were acknowledged throughout the proceedings for their commitment to Alberta Golf over the past ten years.

Alberta Golf is pleased to announce the addition of four new Board Members: Bob Paley, Morgan Bell, Brian Laubman, and Shane Abel. Click on the drop downs below for more about each of the new incoming Board Members

  • Bob Paley
    New Director At Large

    Bob Paley is a name synonymous with golf in the province, recognized for his longstanding leadership and contributions to the game. He served as Head Professional at Kananaskis Country Golf Course from 1998 to 2024 and now holds the role of Director of Golf at the facility.

    In addition to his work at Kananaskis, Bob has been actively involved with the PGA of Alberta, serving on numerous committees, including the Hall of Fame Committee, and as a member of the Board of Directors from 2005 to 2014.

    Bob’s passion for the game is unmatched, and his innovative, forward-thinking approach will help shape Alberta Golf’s strategic direction, ensuring the association continues to be a leader within the industry.

  • Brian Laubman
    New Director At Large

    Brian Laubman’s appointment to the Alberta Golf Board of Directors reflects both his longstanding involvement in the game and a deep family connection to the association. His father, Ken Laubman, served as Alberta Golf President in 1976, and Brian now has the opportunity to follow in his footsteps. Over the past 20 years, Brian has also been an active contributor to Alberta Golf competitions, further demonstrating his commitment to the sport.

    At the club level, Brian has served on committees at The Highlands Golf Club and continues to support the development of young players through his role as a mentor to junior golfers.

    Prior to his retirement, Brian was the Owner and President of Shurseal Industries, a position he held until the company’s sale in 2023. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of the business, including hiring, vendor and sales management, as well as oversight of financial operations, strategic planning, budgeting, and marketing.

    With his extensive experience and passion for giving back to the game, Brian brings valuable perspective to the Board as Alberta Golf continues to grow participation and strengthen its championship pathway.

  • Morgan Bell
    New Director At Large

    Morgan Bell joins the Alberta Golf Board of Directors, bringing two highly valuable perspectives to the role. As a competitive golfer, she has participated in numerous championship events at both the provincial and national levels. These experiences have shaped her strong interest in the long-term strategic direction of both Canadian golf and Alberta Golf’s programming.

    Professionally, Morgan offers extensive expertise in marketing, human resources, and strategic planning through her role as Senior Vice-President, Strategy & Communications at Teneo. She also contributes her time and insight as a member of the Glencoe Invitational Committee, further strengthening her well-rounded background in the sport.

    Together, her competitive experience and professional expertise position her to support and enhance Alberta Golf’s programs, from grassroots initiatives through to high-performance pathways, ensuring the association continues to lead among its peers.

  • Shane Abel
    New Director At Large

    Shane joins the Alberta Board of Directors following more than six years of service on the Board of Winston Golf Club, including the past four as President. During his tenure, he was a strong advocate for the club and played a key leadership role in advancing the development of a new clubhouse, scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.

    Professionally, Shane serves as Chief Financial Officer at Ocean Point Terminals, bringing over 20 years of experience in financial management, including more than 15 years as a CFO with both public and private energy companies. His extensive financial expertise, combined with his governance experience at the Winston, will support the continued strengthening of Alberta Golf’s governance and finance committees.

2026 ALBERTA GOLF OFFICERS

The Board of Directors met after the AGM and named the following officers:

Golf Canada’s President Adam Daifallah and CEO Laurence Applebaum were also in attendance and provided the audience with their comments about the strength of the existing relationship between Golf Canada and Alberta Golf as well as the bright future that exists for golf in our country.
