Official Designations and Functions
Alberta Golf has three official volunteer designations with particular functions that provide opportunities for interested applicants to assist in a variety of roles and areas that best suit their interest. Below are the three official designations:
Volunteers are involved occasionally with tournaments, rules, player development, course rating and/or committee work. They are not required to work a minimum number of days per golf season and they have no minimum or maximum term as a volunteer.
Associate Directors work on various committees, attend meetings and training sessions. They may have a defined role on the Zone Council, or on a Provincial Committee. They must serve a minimum term of one year with no maximum term and contribute at least 8 days per golf season.
Directors compose the Members of the Board and provide leadership through organizing meetings and training sessions. They have a fiduciary responsibility and contribute to the strategic direction of Alberta Golf. In addition, they contribute approximately 15 days of work throughout the year. Directors must serve a minimum term of one year with a maximum term of ten consecutive years. Most often, directors are elected to the Board after serving many successful years as a volunteer and associate director. The Alberta Golf Board of Directors reflects gender balance and zone representation.
