All Weather Windows Alberta Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship

Ponoka, AB: The Alberta Men’s Mid Amateur Championship wrapped up today at Wolf Creek in Ponoka, Alberta, with David Schultz of Country Hills Golf Club taking the win at +3 after three rounds. He shot a 72 the first round, followed by a 76 and took the lead today with a 68, the best score in any round of the tournament. It was a come from behind victory as he sat in 8^thplace after the second round. Frank Van Dornick, who won the tournament last year and shared the lead overnight, slipped into 9^thtoday after shooting an 81. Special thanks go to Wolf Creek Golf Resort and their entire staff for making this Championship a success.

The Alberta Mid-Amateur Team will be comprised of David Schultz and Tom McKinlay. They will represent Alberta in the team competition at the Golf Canada Mid-Amateur Championship at Point Grey G&CC in Vancouver, BC, September 4-7. The final member of the Alberta Team will be the top 25+ aged competitor at the Sun Life Financial Alberta Men’s Amateur Championship at the Medicine Hat G&CC in July.
